Actually, according to the lunar calendar, winter is already here.People have been saying to me, "I'm exhausted. Worn out. Can you give me more energy?"
The answer is yes....however, is it an appropriate time for more energy? Do you need more energy to make it through, or do you just want to do more, to fit more into your day? If it's the latter you're interested in, winter might think otherwise. Winter might be telling us that it's an appropriate time to be doing less, not more. Look at what winter is doing: is it doing more, or less? Are trees lush with leaves? Expanding and growing? Is water rushing and churning the way it does in the spring? Are animals out n about, or are they getting ready for months of hibernation? If we want to maximize our health, then according to Chinese medicine, we need to live in deep accord with nature. We can look around us and see what's happening. It's cold. The water is still. The sap of the tree is going deep inside. Only if we do the same will we have the ample nourishment to survive the winter months and be able to burst forth into spring with the energy we've conserved. Before we can relish in spring, we need to learn patience and fortitude from winter. Shoot me an email if you have any questions or ideas about practical things you can do to live in accordance with winter!
